Core Share Lottery

In keeping with the usual CSA business model, the ultimate goal for Skunk Hollow Farm is for it to become its own self-sustaining entity, independent of Radnor Conservancy, Friends of the Willows Cottage, and Greener Partners There will be a “Core Group” consisting of shareholders, the farmer, and other business advisors who will take over operations of Skunk Hollow Farm and the CSA.  The shareholders who are part of the Core Group typically coordinate farm volunteers, finances, fundraisers, special events and community outreach- sort of like a board of directors of a PTO or other community organization.

For the CSA to grow as it should we need to start getting people in place who are interested in stepping into such a leadership role gradually now. For that reason, this season we are offering two to three Core Shares outside of the regular lottery process. Core members this year will be expected to serve in the fledgling Core Group, and, with plenty of help from the farmer and the existing Steering Committee comprised of volunteers from Radnor Conservancy, Greener Partners, Friends of the Willows Cottage, and Radnor Township, begin to function as a CSA Core Group.

If you are interested in filling such a role and are willing to commit to at least two years as an active member of the Core Group, you can submit your name for a smaller, independent lottery separate from the general lottery. From the smaller Core Group lottery, two to three names will be drawn, so your chances of getting a share will be better than in the general lottery. Your share price will remain the same as other members. If you’re interested in being a part of growing Skunk Hollow Farm into the full fledged CSA we know it will be, and you are willing to make the two-year commitment, or if you have further questions, contact us at radnor.conservancy@comcast.net
